- Week 13 – #3 BYU (11-0) vs UMass (2-8) – Sat, Nov 18, 1pm – LES, Provo, UT – BYUtv
o In what’s becoming a national story…#3 BYU hasn’t moved from the ranking in over a month and was just leap-frogged by a one-loss FSU team who just won @Clem and looks poised to win the ACC.
o UMass is gracious enough to come to Provo two years in a row and gets rewarded with one of the most perfect fall days at LES. It snowed the night before so the mountains are capped with snowfall and the “Y” is barely visible with the snow-dusted mountainside. But the sun is out and bright and it’s a special senior day to say good bye to so many talented contributors.
o As expected, the game isn’t close. UMass has a legit WR pro prospect but other than that BYU wins the head-to-head battle with every other player on the field. Tanner throws 4 TD passes in the first half (MLP 23 yards, Simon 12 yards, Bushman 5 yards, Trinnaman 34 yards) and Squally gets into the endzone twice as well. With BYU up 42-0, Beau Hoge starts and plays the entire 2nd half…with him wearing #7 and having bulked up he looks a little like Taysom out there.
o Beau adds 2 TD runs of his own in the second half and BYU makes the Minutemen regret the 4 hours they shared with the Cougars at LES that day.
o Player of the Game – Tanner Mangum – 23/29, 297 yards, 4 TD’s, 0 INT’s
