I get your point. Keep in mind it's just a suggested retail price, not the price the store pays. The listing says the laptop is new and retail, not refurbished. With that many good reviews, I think it's a near 0% chance they would be buying old broken stuff, fixing it and selling it. Who knows.
It's amazon though. There are plenty of reasons why a product could be way cheaper:
1. The seller doesn't have to pay as many employees.
2. They don't have to pay all the fees of having a physical store.
3. They can buy things at wholesale prices in bulk, get a discount from manufacturer.
4. They can store the product in a warehouse with a cheaper cost per square foot than a store....I'm sure there are several other reasons I'm not thinking of.
I've purchased plenty of awesome stuff from amazon for way cheaper than MSRP. A lot of sellers sell stuff for smaller margins, but in higher volume. BYU Store should stay away from electronics and sell more LDS Books and BYU sports apparel.
The whole point of this rant is that Klay Thompson is an amazing shooter. Amazon is great, and the BYU Store sucks.
