#1 In college FB, coaches can't go on the field and get things done. It would be equivalent to you running your engineering firm from your desk, with 18-24 year olds doing the work, many of which can't even get a college degree. Sometimes you will find a diamond in the rough, and sometimes the guys just aren't good enough to do the work (exactly what we are facing now).
#2 You are competing for the market against other firms that have similar situations. Sometimes they have a better recruiting pool, sometimes they don't. Sometimes their plan gels better/faster than yours. And sometimes the 'winner' in the market is successful by the luck of the draw.
