Very few successful HCs are also coordinators.
I honestly believe it's in the best interest of BYU for Bronco to hand the reigns to a DC.
The problem is, who will fill that role?
Bromco won't hire some young upstart who wants to run his own defensive scheme--Bronco wants a ditto man.
And the pay and the recruiting environment and the lifestyle are enough to drive away many potential DC hires.
The strength of Lavell was always in his ability to choose and raise up coordinators. That's where we get to the next level. I'm just not sure how/if Bronco can do that.
