My understanding that the bowls have their own sources of revenue (sponsors etc)
that are separate from the CFP contract with ESPN. That contract is graduate and is expected to pay $475M this year and approximately $600M in 2024.
According to USA Today, the distribution of CFP net revenue is:
P5 = 71.5% split evenly among the conferences
G5 = 27% - they have a complex revenue sharing plan, some is across the board and some based on performance
ND = 1%
Indies = 0.5% split evenly - this year it's /2. Next year there will only by two so each will get 50% of this.

Isn't this like the "win the NIT v. lose in the first round" question?

Kind of, but I don't think the Fiesta Bowl = NIT. It's one of the major bowls.

At the same time, I don't think the final 4 of football is the 1st round of bb

Now I see that fallacy of the argument. The choice is Fiesta Bowl vs. Playoff.

If it is about money isn't the payout for a semi-final more than Fiesta?

I believe all NY6 have the same payout of $23.5M, this year. I haven't seen

The $23.5M is the bowl payouts. The amounts you listed are for the semi-final

I can't refute individual bowl payouts as the site I'm referencing doesn't

Good game but a loss in Playoff > Fiesta win > Playoff blowout loss
