Least painful in terms of $ or time and effort spent? Easiest is just to get
a car loan through your credit union or car dealer (if you're buying from a car dealership). I don't know if that's the least painful financially, though.

Just get a loan from a credit union using your car as collateral

Give me a lien on your house and $1000 and I'll do it.

If he pays it off in a month, he'll pay a few bucks in interest is all

Go to a credit union and get a loan. Rates are pretty low -- like 3.75% I think.

You can do much better than 3.75.

Yep. Meant 2.75% I got 2.35% in October.

I don't think the rate matters so much on a 3 week loan

True, but with money that cheap he may decide to stretch it a little longer.

Are you in a work situation where they'd give you that money as an advance?

Wow. That's a great rate. Do they have penalties for paying it off early?
