From what I have read (please correct me if I am wrong...), the House settlement makes way for schools to pay athletes directly (
https://www.ropesgray.com/en/insights/alerts/2024/11/ncaa-proposed-settlement-receives-preliminary-approval). If this is the case and athletes become school employees, the schools (in some WEIRD way, shape, or form) will have much greater control over when athletes can enter the portal, withdraw from bowl games, etc. VIA CONTRACT. Athletes need to remember that direct compensation is a double-edged sword. Yes, you get money. BUT, that money comes with strings, as every employee in the real world knows.
It will be an interesting next few years as this all shakes out. Thoughts CB???
