A couple of things that I've noticed: 1. he plays better when we incorporate designed QB runs and 2. he is most comfortable in a 2 min. drill.
I'd like to see the team lean into those a bit. On the first drive of the game I would:
1. incorporate QB runs. Some risk of injury, but he is just one of those players that needs to get the blood flowing.
2. do the first drive with tempo, simulating a 2 min. drill in terms of tempo (but not clock management).
I know this runs counter to a lot of common coaching philosophies, but it seems to fit how Retzlaff plays better than our current opening drive efforts.
