Do I have a huge problem with 4 teams from the SEC getting in? No. Their SOS is better than everyone else's. Their teams win the national title nearly every year. The Big 10? Not so much.
A quick look back shows that in the last 20 years the Big 10 has won 2 national titles. The SEC has won 13. The Big 12 has won 1. The ACC has won 3. The former PAC won one at USC years go. (yes I know the Big 12 won moved to the SEC and the PAC one moved to the Big 10. I think it is important to give credit for the conference at the time as that is where they won it).
But don't just look at the teams at the top, look at the depth of teams. Sagarin rates teams and the #1 conference is:
1. The SEC 81.89 average ranking
2. The Big 12 77.17
3. Big 10 76.76
4. The ACC 74.24
The bottom 3 are within 3 points of each other and the top one is nearly 5 points above #2.
Look at the strength of schedule tweet earlier. All of the SEC contenders are at the top. Followed by BYU. Then the Big 10 and the ACC. If BYU has a tougher strength of schedule than Ohio State or Penn State and the same amount of losses why is 1 at 14 and the others at 2 and 4?
Now when we start getting into 3 loss SEC teams being talked bout we should probably pause. But they are the best conference, hands down. The Big 10 is not. Let's quit giving them credit that is undeserved.
