I'll admit that I threw more than my fair share of tortillas in LES back in the day.
Okay it was Cougar Stadium back then, but at any rate, at one point BYU admin put the clamps to the tortilla-tossing tradition. I remember being a little perturbed, because it was great fun and anyway, how could someone possibly get injured by a flying tortilla.

Looking back today, if you were up high, you could really zing those things. I think it's feasible that a tortilla actually could have hit someone in the eye and caused damage.

So tortillas are one thing, but I can't imagine throwing a water bottle - even a plastic one - toward the field. I saw that video showing the cheer coach getting struck in the face/head, and my first though was how I'd feel if I were the guy who launched it. I can only imagine the horrible feeling of watching it arc downward, strike the woman, and then seeing her crumple to the ground unconscious. I think that would be difficult to live with.

I also find it difficult to believe no one in the vicinity of the perpetrator saw it happen. Normally I'd expect this to be reported, but at Rice Eccles Stadium, this type of behavior seems to go on right under the noses of "normal", "respectful" Utah fans. Hopefully someone will speak up this time.

I don't know how many water bottles were thrown, but there were too many. That fan base and the behavior of Ute fans at RES is deplorable, and needs to get fixed.
