A Breakdown of the New Guys Following Last Night's Game
First: I don't think I fully understood how much Egor was going to be running the point. You have two strong starting PGs. Very curious how Hall v. Egor is going to work.

Second: Last night there were a few times where it definitely felt like there were players on the team out to 'get theirs'. What made last season's squad so remarkable was that they played so well as a team and moved the ball around. Why do I bring it up? In the promotion of "BYU is the new route to the NBA" there comes with it some sort of implied permission to come in and show the NBA what you're made of. If we start having guys decide that this is just their tryout for the NBA, we'll run into issues. So curious to see how KY balances this out.

Third: The rotation is a real issue. You've got so many capable players that can make an argument to be on the court. Unless they're all just playing 15 mins, I worry about disgruntled players on the bench. And last night you didn't have guys like Fous or Hall even playing. I think there are legitimately 12 guys who need playing time every game: Egor, Kanon, Keba, Mag, Baker, Hall, Knell, Richie, Bosko, Crawford, Kos, and Fous.

We've only had a couple of public views into the team and so you probably can't read too much into any of this, but a few more thoughts on a few of the new guys:

- Egor: Unbelievable court vision. Being 6'8 or 6'8 with handles like that help. But his passing is crisp and where it needs to be for players to quickly get into their shooting motion. Shockingly unselfish. I hope he is put in a position to take more shots while Dallin is distributing on the court with him.

- Elijah Crawford: His speed and movement on the court reminded me of Pop Isaacs. If he can turn into a Pop type player he will be special. He could end up being our best defender against the point. It's also clear that Elijah is our key to implementing full court pressure because of his speed. The combo of Elijah plus Richie in a full court press set gave CCU fits last night. HOWEVER, just watching Elijah's swagger last night both with the ball and especially without it (like the time the camera zoomed in on him and he looked directly into it and blew a kiss) left me feeling a little like it's all about Elijah. So something to watch.

- Mag: Didn't see much from him. Thought he'd player a little stronger and more above the rim.

- Kanon: Dude is legit...the real deal...and humble about the way he goes about things. I love this sort of shy baller who can get off a shot from anywhere. He impressed me as much as anyone last night. The first play of the game...lob from Egor to Kanon was a poetic way to start this all off.

-Keiba: His is rebounding prowess...excellent. And his swat that threw the ball into the stands — insane. The Fous/Keiba combo means we can always have someone who is big under the rim all game.

- Kozlowski: Koz looks like a baller and someone who will play stronger this year that I initially gave him credit for. In a year or two he could be a special player on this team.

- Bosko: Didn't get to see much...but enough between this and the B/W game to know that we need him to be cleared by the NCAA. And as he improves, the community is going to have a ball with the Bosco v. Bosko name play.
