So what's the biggest appeal of RVing?
My FB friends and neighbors who travel via RV - constantly talk about the mechanical issues they deal with. Every trip there is something they are having issues with. In my neighborhood - I bet 1/3rd to 1/2 of all the houses on our street have RVs. So I get that they are popular, but the allure of RVing has never appealed to my wife and I. But in total clarity - I am not a handyman type of person. I can do minor things, but when it gets to car, etc maintenance - that's not me.

I get the freedom and staying in an RV at national campgrounds.

It can't be the cost. The amount of money spent on big trucks and expensive RVs - plus all the maintenance costs (mechanical, insurance, gas, etc.) involved - is not cheap.

I posted earlier today about the many roadtrips we've taken over the years. All of them have been via motel. (and for some of the longer roadtrips I actually get a rental car instead of putting all the miles on my own vehicle.) And I would bet that the costs we've incurred with motel and car rentals - is still a lot less than my neighbors are paying for their trucks/RVs, etc.
