Guys not getting touches and Arod scheming way to get Lassiter or whomever the ball by taking advantage of mismatches, like that’s easy and he’s just not shooting to do that. Guys, we’re playing big boy football. We have athletes that are up for it finally but there not as much separation as there once was.

This ain’t like the WAC or Mountain West where we had superior athletes in some spots and gritty disciplined folks who were super assignment sound in others going up against a bunch of New Mexicos and UNLVs. Almost every team in conference (and P4 teams in preseason) have the same kind of athletes and coaching as we do. Everyone has iPads and are reviewing film and dissecting every play.

Disguising and taking what the d gives is what we have, all we have and there’s no point doing different agains the SIUs if it won’t work in conference play. We’re not Georgia or the KC Chiefs. We’re not gonna line up and overpower anyone and I think football is different enough from basketball that we may never recruit well enough to do that.

Arod isn’t a perfect play caller by any means and the guys have a ways to go to execute what is needed but they’re barking up the right tree from an X’s and O’s standpoint. This isn’t high school or small time FBS. Maybe Gbo runs it better than Jake but I don’t know. But as far as the schemes go, this is what you asked for. Deal with it, cause it’s what we have for the able future. We wanted big time. Well, here you go! Suck it up and complain about something else.
