Cancer sucks
On January 2nd I got the call from my urologist that I have prostate cancer. We caught it early, I am young, healthy, no underlying health issues and everything points to a complete and full recovery. My Oncologist told me I had a higher chance of getting hit by a bus after my appt that day than dying from this. I now look for busses more than I have before but I digress…

My wife and I are empty nesters and we have a mutual love of all things BYU. We met there in the fall of 1989. For the last 5 or 6 years or so, we have gone to 2-3 away games for football each season. Once we knew BYU was playing in the Alamo bowl I knew that we were going. My wife is the one that ensures we renew our season tickets for football and basketball each year. She is as much, if not more, of a fan than I am.

I am halfway through my 28 radiation treatments (each day M-F) which prevents us from going to the games this week. I would have to miss to treatments and that just didn’t seem like a good idea.

Just needing a spot to vent. Cancer sucks. The first time in 14 years we are this far and we are at a point in our lives that we could make this trip. Except for the fact that I have cancer. And it sucks.

To anyone else on here who is dealing with cancer or someone you love is, I am sorry. It sucks. Carry on.
