But here it goes…

Family and I will be at the game. Got great seats near the team benches. Found an awesome looking cabin in Golden. Very excited. Will be cheering our guts out. I want us to win.

But if I was forced to put a bunch of money on it, I wouldn’t pick us.

I think most of the concerns about VCU are legitimate. This seems like the same issues we had with Duquesne last year. We are better overall. But I’m not sure our guards are, except Trey Stewart on D is obviously better. If you beleive Hall, and especially Demin are suddenly gonna do well against pesky, slap and bump happy athletic guards, in the pressure of The Tourney, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s possible. But not likely.

My BIGGEST concern is something intangible that my small experience on this board tells me won’t be taken seriously, and that’s fine. But it’s the intangible that I believe that losing in a demoralizing, painful, embarrassing, and not even close the entire game fashion in the last game you played, directly prior to the 1st game of the tourney, is a huge problem. Especially with it being the first time you have lost in over a month. I think it’s a very difficult mental hurdle to not let that affect you and stew badly for almost an entire week before tip off of the pressure of the 1st round March Madness game.

If we had been competitive against Houston, I would be picking us to win. Since we weren’t even close, I am really hoping and believing we can win, but I wouldn’t put money on us.

There you have it. Now commence the keyhauling, flogging, and hanging me up. Be sure to let me know I must not have played high level competitive sports, I’m a bad fan, Ute, etc.
