Had an interesting interaction here with a friend of a friend who is a mega
donor with TAMU, and part of the brain trust behind their NIL collective. In my current position I have occasion to be discussing finances with this man (literally spend many hours with him and 2 others over dinner, drinks, and watching the game). I learned a lot of what each of these commits and current players are paid. TAMU's goal is to be top 5 in NIL every year. We went over many different players. He mentioned a kid from Utah. I had never heard of this Casuga kid. I looked him up tonight on CB and linked to this post. A lot of people here seemed to be sad that he is not coming to BYU. But it seems BYU never had a chance with this kid.

When it comes to Casuga, NIL was THE driving factor in his decision of where to play. He is being well compensated, far above what BYU is (or probably ever will be) paying any non basketball player. Just by signing with them, he has a great haul that it would take many people years to make. If he stays there and does well, and is smart with his money and lifestyle, he could be decently comfortable regardless of what he does for the rest of his life. Hard to fault a kid and his parents for choosing that.
