I actually agree with Rex Ryan. Sliding seems to expose yourself to harm way more than alternatives.

I get that sliding is supposed to prevent the defender from having physical contact, but often these QB's wait until the last second to slide and then get hammered. It seems that getting hit normally where you can brace for the hit, instead of being in a position of vulnerability would be the better option.

The late hit penalty on sliding QB's needs to be softened a lot so that QB's only get the penalty if they slide
