Yes, every conference, sure the Sun Belt might not have a solid #2, but there are surprises all the time, and you give an underdog a chance, even the #5 team in the SEC has to be careful not to overlook them.

and you let the computers do the bracketing... they take into account SOS, geography, and travel. Home teams have the choice to play in their stadium or use off site venues that might hold more people. (I mean if one year it's USU, why wouldn't they move their game to SLC or Provo and pull in another 40K people)

but we all know that in all likelihood, the SEC and Big10 are going to pull at least another 4 of those slots between them, that means they get four teams into the playoff most years, but that also means there are still 8 more, and that the BigXII probably pulls in two more teams, which now means there are 6 at large that go to the most deserving based on schedule not just conference.

And that bracket would also mean that there is a very good chance you see some awesome games, better than any bowl we normally have, because they mean something, and now you have teams playing tough games out of their conference, on the road in many cases, in potentially bad weather (I think for this, that the major indoor venues that are NEUTRAL could be used so you aren't playing in freezing cold and snow in Utah... that isn't advantageous to players or fans).

But this is the way. Not all these games that have been played for 30 years.
