Not sure if this has been covered before, but with the proposed House vs. NCAA settlement, the the scholarship limits go away (85 currently for football) and roster limits go in to effect (105 for next year). This means all 105 can get scholarships and with the reduced numbers on the roster, it seems like walk-ons will be a thing of the past. If so, this is one the saddest parts of the current changes happening in college sports. Not just with BYU (Ziggy and Pitta come to mind first), but think of all the walk-ons that have taken a chance and proven themselves on the field in order to get a scholarship down the road. Great storylines. On a bright note, it may make the transfer portal a riskier option without a prearranged deal in place. Either way, it means less opportunities for young athletes in all sports. Not good.
