ARod took over the playcalling during the last few games of 2020 (no one really knew that, but Hans said ARod took over from Grimes with like 6 games left in 2020). Apparently Grimes knew he was leaving and so ARod wanted reps.

2020 - ZW - 524 ypg - 43.5 PPG
2021 - Jaren - 452 ypg - 33 PPG
2022 - Jaren - 426.3 ypg - 31.3 PPG
2023 - Slovis - 309.8 ypg - 23.7 PPG
2024 - Jake - 410 ypg - 35.1 PPG

Clearly, ARod needs a QB that presents the threat of running around, real RPOs with some threat, and occasional broken play success. He HAS to have this to be successful. That's what made Slovis' recruitment so baffling to me (and I said this at the time btw). It makes no sense. Maybe ARod didn't even realize himself he needed a mobile QB to succeed, but he does.

Also, ARod is a top 25-30 OC in America when he has a QB that does this. He's really good and we're lucky to have him.

Hopefully we have Jake next year and then move on to another mobile-ish QB in 2026.
