My oldest is a junior and he takes his first ACT this weekend. He still sports a 4.0 and is taking 4 AP classes this year after finishing 3 AP classes the last two years with 4/5 scores. He will be a 3-year letterman in two sports (football and lacrosse). NHS. He did some easy student govt freshman year but that was it. Does his own odd jobs business in the summers.
If he does well on the ACT, what are the realistic college scholarship opportunities for white males who do not qualify for tuition assistance? Has anyone successfully navigated this recently?
He wants to go out of state, so scholarships are critical. Otherwise, it’s silly to pay that type of tuition with more affordable options closer to home. I’m not opposed to him going to BYU, but he is fairly Luke warm to that idea.
Appreciate any tips here on the academic scholarship stuff specifically. He’s a good athlete, but I don’t think he really cares about trying to play lacrosse or football in college.
