BYU and Colorado have played 3 of the same Big 12 opponents plus a 4th game
CO played UCF while BYU played Ok State. In their four conference games, BYU has scored 151 points (1st in Big 12) while allowing 91 (4th of those that have played 4 games) and Colorado has scored 148 (2nd in Big 12) while allowing 90 (3rd in Big 12). Almost identical.

Before last night, I would have told you that BYU had a top defense, sitting behind only ISU in the conference. And that the offense was good enough to get the job done but nothing special. And without looking at the stats I would have guessed the CO had a pretty bad defense but was lights out on offense just based on the parts of games I've seen and the conversations online. But the points scored and allowed are telling us that BYU and CO are pretty similar teams in scoring margin. And every game is different but this is against 3 common opponents.

Separately, BYU and CO are within 5 spots of each other in turnover margin so it's not like BYU's defense is creating way more opportunities relative to what Colorado's defense is doing. So that alone doesn't explain why BYU has scored about the same number of points as Colorado.

Anyway, goes to show you what branding (especially the loud kind that surrounds Coach Prime) can do to perceptions. Perceptions don't always equate to reality. BYU's offense has been performing pretty well, averaging something like 38ppg in conference. Defense has had some amazing games but hasn't always had the perfect game plan or execution. I actually think we have a pretty balanced team across all phases of the game.
