1A. Always put Notre Dame 5-12 spots above where you might think they belong - it's especially effective if Notre Dame has a loss and BYU is undefeated.

2A. Always rank BYU 5-7 spots lower than you feel they should be. It is always encouraged to put them below teams that EVERYONE knows they're better than.
