it's okay to be objective
Here's my objective take.
BYU defense is clearly better than last year
BYU offense has shown flashes but is inconsistent and doesn't have much of a run attack. However, they have been very good in the red zone and extremely opportunistic with short fields and momentum swings.
BYU has gotten soooo many favorable bounces this year. Some of them can be attributed to a good defense, but others really are just lucky like the punt return. There were maybe 3 different plays in the SMU game where a last chance tackle saved a touchdown, and even a single touchdown would have lost BYU the game. The players made great plays, but I see it as a coin flip that we won 3 times in a row in order to win that game. KSU game got out of hand quickly in a bizarre set of plays that you many never see the likes of again, but again, how much was because of an amazing team and how much was just coin flips? The Baylor game? A mix of both good bounces, great opportunistic play, followed by BYU allowing Baylor to almost come back and win the game multiple times.
This is why even at 5-0 some are skeptical. Me included and that's okay. I'm still ecstatic at our record and am hopeful it keeps rolling, but I see us as a good team with a great defense and a meh offense. How far can that take us? Who knows. Love our team! Love the energy and momentum! Hope it keeps rolling
