I suppose I could have put this in the technology category, but wasn't sure.

Suppose two identical houses sit side-by-side in Utah County (so RMP and their net-metering policies is the relevant thing here), both have solar panels, but one has a battery as part of their solar system (cue puns here). What advantages does that provide the owners/residents of that home that has the battery? I think I have a general idea, but want to know specifics so I'm accurate in my assessment.
