Fall colors are great - especially from horseback.
I've got a relative who runs most of his cows up in the high country during the summer. He's nice enough to let me come along to round them up in the fall. I took one of my boys with me this year, he'd had a total of 3-4 hours on a horse before this and all just basic beginner stuff in a corral. So this was fun for him to spend all day in the mountains crossing creeks, navigating thick timber, and herding cows.
The country was beautiful and the weather was great, and we saw some cool old homesteads up there too. They used to mark their property lines/corners with whatever they had handy, like old steel pipes or car axles half buried and sticking up (wish I would have gotten pictures of those).
Only downfall was no real cell reception. I caught some of the pre-game show just as we were getting saddled up, but lost reception before the game started.
