Some game notes, mostly about the atmosphere, because WOW:

--There is no comp for that game in modern BYU football history. Zero. None. Been coming to games since LES opened. By '84 I was already a full-on, grade school BYU football geek and had the two deep memorized. Been coming to games ever since, and there's simply no comparator to tonight.

--The closest thing I've experienced at LES was the near back-to-back Mangum Hail Mary and Nacua pick 6 vs. Boise St. The commonality was a crowd wanting to explode in a game where we'd trailed and been so tantalizingly close to coming back...and then the crowd did explode after 2 monumental, all-time plays to seal a win over a ranked foe. That was insane.

--Different in that tonight, we'd been statistically dominated for almost an entire half by a much scarier foe. I was actually surprised at just how loud the crowd was at the scooop and score...but then it Just. Kept. Going. Big play after big play...crowd induced penalties on K-State...and that punt return....it was unreal. People literally asking what on earth was happening. So, so fun to be there. Nothing to compare it with in all my time at LES.

--Game production: HOLY Cow. Best pre-walkout I think I've ever seen with the lights going down and everyone's cell phones lit up. Ditto for pre 4th quarter break. Totally packed house. The ROC completely delivered and impacted the game. Seriously top notch stuff from the folks running the show at LES tonight.

Proud night for Cougar fans. It wasn't the 59-0 blowout of UCLA where absolutely everything went our way, almost to the full extent that a football game could go our way. This was something better. A thunderbolt, 180 degree turn that saw the Cougs rain down complete dominance from every angle on a 13th ranked opponent that had methodically executed its grind it out game plan for almost an entire half.

THAT was fun
