Vanilla Redshirt Freshman
A year ago my fiancé and I got two dogs. We live up here in SLC and go to the same dog park every dusk.
There's the same group of people who show up each night—15-20 people—everyone knows all the dog names—it's a pretty nice group of people.

Tonight I showed up wearing my BYU shirt, and there were around 10 or so people wearing Ute gear who had just finished watching the game.

I'm not a member of the Church, we've all talked enough for them to know that, so they were really confused when I showed up wearing a Y shirt.

I got so much crap for being a Y fan, specifically from the very very mormon couple. Ha, it was kinda weird experiencing them go a little cold on me when we're always chatting up a storm.

It was bizarre hearing everyones reaction; one lady who likes(d?) me a lot kept going on about how she can't even "say that name", and "thought better" of me than being a Y fan.

It was kinda friendly crap talk, but got weird with a few people who became visibly bothered—one of the dude's said to me "I hope K-State chases you guys out of Rice-Eccles South tonight."

Another dude literally dropped the "It'd be 10 in a row if Cam started".

I said, "Maybe!"

I pretty much laughed off the crap talking, told them I've been jealous of their D for a couple of decades, told them I wished it could be like the Lavell/McBride days—told them I thought it was a bummer that Urban leaves such toxicity behind every school he leaves.

No big drama moments—just a little bizarre—I don't think they knew what to do with a non member BYU fan who wishes their fanbase weren't too upset to say the name of a school.

Nice people—but better dogs 😉
