French drain question.
One of the joys of where I live is springs everywhere we’ve had a pretty extensive French drain system put in on the property.

It’s been in and worked great for 11 years but now the black corrugated pipe that carries the water 100ish yards down a steep gradient to a ditch, is leaking due to a clog somewhere. I’ve started digging it up and of course there are multiple punctures in the black corrugated pipe. I’m not sure how to try and snake it out with that type of pipe.

I’m now deciding if I try to Jerry rig a temporary solution or do a long term solution and dig the whole thing out and replace with PVC.

Is there any reason for using black corrugated pipe rather than pvc through the non French drain part of the apparatus other than ease and cost for the landscaper? It seems PVC would have been the way to go all along for the 100 yard stretch where no water is entering.
