Just rewatched the second half of the 96 K-State game. A few observations:
1. Muirbrook with 4 sacks - wow! One of Muirbrook's sacks was for a safety, which is part of the reason why K-State couldn't have won it with a field goal at the end (which would not have been taken by Super Bowl champ Martin Grammatica, who was on the K-State roster, but he had torn his ACL).

2. The BYU defense dominated almost the entire game. I had forgotten that K-State's points in the first half came on a Hail Mary at the end of the half. Their other points came on a 72 yard catch and run by Kevin Lockett on a short throw. More than 40% of K-State's yards came on those two plays.

3. Kevin Lockett was amazing. In addition to his long TD catch, his foot was very close to being in bounds in the end zone on K-State's last drive. He finished with 7 catches for 135 yards. His brother and son were also awesome at K-State.

4. Both of BYU's touchdowns came on long passes when K-State's All-American CB Chris Canty was out of the game with cramps.

5. The consecutive no calls during the 3rd quarter on Jenkins and KO were egregious.

6. Steve Sarkisian was fun to watch, even though he was sacked 7 times. The broadcast said that he almost went to K-State and that he was hosted on his visit by K-State QB Brian Kavanagh. I looked up Kavanagh, and he actually played at the same JUCO where Sarkisian played, El Camino.

7. That K-State coaching staff had Mike Stoops, Brent Venables, Mark Mangino, and Dana Dimel. Bob Stoops had left K-State to go to Florida after the previous season and he was the DC on their national championship winning team in 1996. Bob Stoops was then hired by Oklahoma in 1999 where he hired Mike Leach as his OC. Leach brought in Josh Heupel (current Tennessee HC) from Snow College. Leach left for Texas Tech after the 99 season, then Oklahoma won the national championship in 2000 with Bob Stoops as HC, Heupel as QB, Mangino as OC, and Mike Stoops and Venables as co-DCs.

8. Was Blaine Fowler the color announcer on the broadcast?
