Had a big hail storm come few a couple of weeks ago and most the homes in my neighborhood are getting new roofs.
My neighbor recommended a guy. So he helped make the call to my insurance company and was there for my roofing inspection. The claim was approved.
So this is my first roof and actually my first ever claim on a home. Growing up I always heard about roofers covering the deductible. Or having the scope of work be all inclusive but then only doing 80% of it allowing the other 20% to go towards the deductible.
The guy I am working with made it seem like there was some leeway on how much of the deductible I’ll be paying, ideally none.
But as I’ve done more research (wish I had before), it’s straight up fraud to not pay the full deductible. So is this guy just trying to get me to commit insurance fraud, or is there truly a way to work around the deductible without it being illegal.
