The par score is the same for every tournament course, so it's not as simple as what you're claiming, that the par score should just be lowered. No, the course is supposed to be 72 strokes difficult on average (par). So if the field is crushing the course, while it's still fair to everyone, it means the course was not up to the standard that it should be as a tournament course.
