makes sense. And as you said, that should come from the pie, the existing money that is flowing in. However, that's not what NIL does. NIL creates an entirely new pie that just increases the costs of everything and pushes the burden on fans. People are free to contribute to NIL as it exists today, but I think it's just making the problem worse, because it's preventing college athletics from being forced to figuring out how to share their existing revenue.
I already spend thousands every year on BYU athletics, not even counting my time. I do not need to pay more. If I'm asked to pay into another pie, the answer is no, come what may. Figure out how to divvy the original pie. It is what the pros do. The pros do not ask me to fund some external collective to pay for salaries. As Methualeh22 stated for him, I too can just find other hobbies.
