The science behind processed foods is just starting to catch up.
My wife does a fair amount of reading in this area. So currently you won't find a ton of older, proven studies on the dangers of processed foods but a fair amount of research is currently being done in this area.

Most medical practitioners will readily agree on the dangers of processed foods. They may not have the same levels of direct harm of some items, but they are seeing tons of other conditions directly linked (obesitiy, diabetes, heart issues, etc.).
