My trusts and estates professor in law school said that he is never an executor
for family or friends. If a family or friend asks he tells them to find a professional. He told everyone in class that they should never be an executor for family or friends. Not only can it ruin relationships and creates drama but executors can be liable for a breach of fiduciary duties and it’s just not worth the risk.
