Most people in senior positions lucked into it, or were given the chance as the result of some special relationship and as the result are inherently insecure and use chaos as a defensive mechanism to keep their perceived rivals at bay.

There are good ones, but they are the minority. It's even tougher to find long-term founders serving as executives who have stayed grounded.

I would hope the people who worked for me considered me one of the good ones, but I admit I've made my fair share of mistakes dealing with employees.
