I disagree. The commitment is to the school, not the coach.

There can be a clause that is based on year that goes into effect when a coach leaves allowing a player to transfer with reduced penalties. Play a year before the coach leaves, get a year and pay back the other 2. Option to stay on and complete the contract despite the coaching change.
