“He really had lots of interest from schools but was so committed to byu he told them not to offer!” Even the most committed kids welcome new offers all the time. This narrative that he was beating other schools off with a stick to show his commitment was just silly. He was an ok high school QB, nothing more and nothing less. It’s not a knock on the kid — it’s just a fact. There were numerous QBs in Utah alone who were far more productive than he was in his class. Again, it’s not personal — I’m just talking about his skillset as a QB which was always just good but nothing special.
