If it's a poor story that is then poorly written no casting in the world will make a difference. But if they have a good story and capture who Han Solo is; then it'll work.

It's why the Prequels failed and The Force Awakens didn't. The Prequels were poorly written poor stories. The Force Awakens has its flaws, but writing was more than sufficient.
