UHSAA 1600 M finals
I’ve been to a number of State Championship races. Watching Casey rack up medals back in 2017 and 2018 were exciting years. This year though the average times are getting much faster. So many girls broke 5 minutes this year. Getting close to 5 would win 6A back in 2018, now you have 3A girls breaking 5 minutes. Lone Peak totally dominated the final in 6A girls.

As for the boys. 6A final was great. Danny Simmons broke his own record, 4:01 and Zach Hillhouse had a rough final 400, but still held off Kade Evans of AF for 3rd. That race started brutally fast. 1:58 first 800 and a 2:03 final 800.

5A boys wasnt as exciting. JoJo was getting all the accolades by the guy in the booth, but it wasnt a spectacular race. Jojo boew it oprn on the back stretch of the final lap. No where the 6A finalists times.

The most exciting race was the 4A final. It literally came down to .2 seconds, I think Westfall beat Butterfield, 4:12 even for 4A guys.

Fun morning.
