Tuition is so small, it is almost a rounding error. One could certainly substitute some additional NIL in place of the benefit of a scholarship. Anyone know the rules on how many "walk ons" you can have for basketball or football?
It seems like we could take more chances on "developmental type" or "who knows type" kidss with a few extra $$. Of course, they can always transfer once they get good, but if a kid wanted to be here and it isn't illegal, couldn't we keep a kid like Isaac Davis with a few extra NIL $$ without using a scholarship?
That is a hypothetical question and not suggesting it would be amenable to Davis - using an example to help clarify the question about NIL versus scholarship.
