I was a pretty good hurdler in high school. Took 8th in state with a time of something like 39.5. The winner of my race broke the Colorado state record with a time of 36.4, which still stands almost 25 years later. I couldn’t believe that somebody beat me by 3 seconds.
It’s hard to comprehend that this kid beat his time by a second and a half. It’s a perfect race. Even some of the best runners I’ve seen have to really stride it out the last couple hurdles to hit their steps, or awkwardly switch lead legs. And although you try to keep form, the exhaustion keeps pretty much everybody from looking great over the last couple hurdles.
This kid keeps speed for all 300 meters, and maintains perfect form over each hurdle. He attacks the hurdles.
Really crazy to watch.
