French fries are very important to people in America
We love the fried potatoes. Even though they probably shorten the lives of many Americans. We won't worry about that.

When I was a kid we lived in many towns. We happened upon a little diner in a small Idaho town where we lived. They had excellent burgers and the very best french fries I have ever eaten. They were so good we asked the proprietor how they made their fries.

Of course he was using the big russet potatoes found right there in Idaho. I don't remember the whole process but I think he handcut the fries and soaked them in water. Then double fried them. The big secret was frying them in beef tallow. This produced great fries.

McDonalds probably spent a lot of money researching how to get the best fries. They were very good. Then it was discovered that beef tallow was bad for the heart. Also came to light that McD's put beef tallow in their frying oil. So that had to stop.

McDonalds came up with some other oil to fry their fries in so they are still pretty good.

It's hard to find good fries. I don't eat them very often, hard on the health and all that. Usually air fry them at home if have them at all.

However, I did happen to go to BK awhile back. I like Whoppers. Got a large order of fries. Didn't expect much. But they were wonderful. I was surprised. Very well done. I'll go back.

Seems to depend a lot on the individual store more than just being able to evaluate a whole chain. Even though they try to be consistent.

I won't usually order fries but I think I'll throw caution to the wind and try a place or two off that list to see if their french fry rating is justified.

While I'm living dangerously I think I'll try the fries at some local diners and see if any of them have some great fries.

Thanks to this post I'm probably going to cut a couple of years off my life expectancy. Oh Well, we didn't get Chandler.
