On QB play in general
Football is a game of development. It's not unusual for there to be lots of QBs in a room. What is different today is that each QB in that room thinks that there are ready Year 1 or maybe year 2 to be given the reigns to the kingdom.

Remember when Hall of Fame QB Steve Young came to BYU to play QB? He was rated the 8th best QB in the room. Of course back then we had a freshman team and a JV team so there were more chances to get your arm worked out and to learn the position. Nevertheless, he was the 8th rated QB...

Did he transfer? No. Did he scream for more NIL money? Nope. He just worked. Eventually he beat out other qbs who left the program and he took over for two years after Jim McMahon graduated. And, after Steve left, it was time for Robbie Bosco. Most qbs played two years. They didn't serve missions. Gifford Nielson (no mission), Marc Wilson (no mission), Jim McMahon (Catholic), Steve Young (no mission), Robbie Bosco (no mission)...

Not all QBs become stars. Even at BYU. After Robbie Bosco, BYU had Steve Lindsley, Bob Jensen and Sean Covey before we had Ty Detmer, John Walsh, Steve Sarkisian and Kevin Feterik.

Hopefully we get back on track with some good qb play.

Peace.
