to buyout a coach 3 seasons early (once the incoming 4-8 2024 season ends)? I highly doubt that. We are most likely locked into Kalani for 2024, and 2025 season. And MAYBE even 2026 season. I just can't see BYU (*ahem* the BoT) firing a coach 2-3 seasons early for non-scandal related issues and having to shell out $6-9M of buyout $$$...

It's unfortunate, because 90% of P4 programs would be willing to fire a coach 2-3 years before his contract is up and pay the buyout, if said coach is obviously not the answer. But I am not too sure we can get anywhere close to that. Yes I know that we shelled out the big bucks for KY and staff in BB...but I am worried that is only possible due to Ryan Smith's checkbook and the fact that Kentucky paid us $5M to poach Pope. Without those forms of funding, no way we get KY. So unless someone else steals Kalani and pays his buyout (no chance in hades that happens) this ain't happening.
