Well, as what happens in his industry, he got laid off. But, the WFH aspect really skewed his job search in the future. He couldn't find a position that was WFH that paid what he wanted. So he was left with 2 options, go back to the office and get paid about what he was before (or more in a couple of offers) or WFH and get paid quite a bit less than he was getting paid.
Anyway, he chose the WFH position but now feels a bit of a crunch trying to make all of his payments of things. When he complains to me I just say, "Yeah, that sucks. Sorry."
