What Kelvin Sampson has been building for the last several years……is now coming to fruition to save the XII from Greg Sanka and ESPN.
Four of the last six NCAA championship games have featured an XII team.
If Houston wins tomorrow night, which they will…only Kansas Baylor, Houston and UConn will have champions this decade.
That is a lot to beat your chest about!
We were just a couple of plays away from having Texas Tech in the Final Four and potentially in the championship vs Houston.
If Houston would’ve lost to Purdue, ESPN and skanky would have diminished the big 12 into nothing and continue to build up the façade that the SEC is the greatest conference of all time.
If Houston didn’t make it this far, we could not be talking about all of this….. it would all be forgotten in the SEC hoopla.
Most of us do not realize how important it is that Houston showed up when they did…. ready to go ….to change college basketball and keep us from being overtaken/diminished into the Mountain West by ESPN.
Sampson builds up the conference and he’s not afraid to talk up the big 12. The big 12 schedule prepared Houston to knock off Duke who has only played cupcakes in their conference and they were not prepared for those kind of battles. Kansas struggled in XII but Kansas is a really good basketball team. Kelvin Sampson said as much last night. They asked him if that (comeback against Duke)was his most memorable comeback… Sampson quickly replied no….the game against Kansas was definitely tougher than this.
Hats off to Houston …thanks for taking over the Alamo. Sam would be proud!
