“BYU has a lot of NIL money. They are probably top three in the sport. But every school has a cap. So while I’m confident BYU will bring in some big-time additions, they have to prioritize how they spend their money between, AJ, returning players, and new additions.“
….
“ What will Richie Saunders do?
Richie was BYU’s MVP this last season. He took a massive leap and was a First-Team All Conference player. He’s weighing his NBA options, but I expect him back at BYU this next season. BYU will pay him over a million dollars, which is more than he would make in the NBA next season, and he’ll get a full season of NBA scouts watching him due to the eyeballs that AJ Dybantsa will warrant.
What will Egor Demin do?
I had the assumption nearly the entire season that Egor Demin was a one-and-done player. That may still be the case, but it’s a lot more in the air than I initially thought. We’ve all heard the quotes of how much he loves BYU and how playing with AJ is intriguing. It’s also fairly well known that star BYU women’s basketball player Delaney Gibb is his girlfriend. Egor has genuinely loved his time at BYU”.
“Sources close to the program have told me that Egor is considering a return to BYU. Egor’s decision will have a large impact on what BYU decides to do and who to pursue. If Egor is gone, then BYU will be full steam ahead, armed with a large NIL package, to land the best possible point guard they can.”
