Posting here to see if any Utah-based attorneys would be willing to associate with my brother and me (both Nevada-based attorneys) as counsel on an entirely pro bono basis.
Our niece—a 4.0 student at BYU with a mission call in hand—was thrown from the backseat of a car when the driver lost control on I-15. She suffered severe injuries, including head trauma and fractures to her femur and pelvis. We are hoping and praying for a full recovery, but she faces a long road. Unfortunately, she and her family, of modest means, will likely face significant financial strain.
My partner and I plan to handle 100% of the legal work and ensure every dollar recovered goes to her care. The main requirement here is simply sending a demand, but since we aren’t licensed in Utah, we need to associate with a Utah-based attorney. We’d fully indemnify the Utah attorney against any liability, though the risk is minimal.
We know how attorneys make a living, so we wouldn’t ask this lightly. That said, we’ll handle everything—negotiations, insurance communications, medical liens, etc. Your involvement would be strictly limited to helping us satisfy Utah’s legal requirements. Given the clear liability and substantial damages, we expect this to resolve at the demand stage. If it somehow went beyond that, we’d reassess the arrangement.
If you or someone you know is willing to help, please reach out. Thanks for your time.
