playoffs the past two weekends.

Today, we got matched up with a team who also plays travel ball but uses the YMCA league to get some easy wins & additional playing time. They had games during the rec season where they won by 60 points. We have a solid team, but were clearly outmatched and they beat us by 25 in the regular season.

One of the flaws in the rules is that the clock keeps running even during foul shots. So my strategy was to foul pretty much every time they got the ball and to not allow them any shot attempts without a foul. This allowed us to play super aggressive as well. Between my fouling strategy and constant subbing, we slowed down the game tremendously. The other team and fans were irritated to say the least.

We ended up losing 17 to 11 and by the end we had seven kids foul out (my roster is 11, which generally is too much but it helped us this game). Their coach was fuming after the game and said my strategy was bush league. He said he’d report me to the basketball director. I told him it was bush league that they were in the rec league at all and would RUTS on everyone all season.

Am I the bad guy here?
